Start with the question the image must answer

Add a decision beside each product name: how large is the vase, what does its surface look like, where can it be used, and which real production step can be shown? Match each question to an image. A contextual shot that explains scale and a close view that explains texture serve different purposes. Do not assume one attractive overall view will do both. This brief gives the team something specific to preserve when choosing a camera position or arranging the scene.

Connect the overall view, detail and use case

For our hypothetical workshop, the overall shape, glaze texture and scale within a real setting could occupy separate rows. A process video should make the relationship between the starting material, the action and the finished object understandable. Do not stage a production method the business does not actually use simply because it looks impressive. Adobe's shot-list guidance describes organising information such as location, shot type, angle, movement and sound. Select the fields that make your own production decisions clearer.

Make each row a small production instruction

Record a short identifier, the question being answered, product, setting, framing, any necessary movement or audio, responsible person and priority. A hypothetical row could read: V02, surface texture, matte vase, window-side table, close view, static camera, workshop prepares the clean product, essential. Use priority meaningfully. If every shot is essential, the list cannot help when the schedule tightens. Identify who supplies each product or prop and check that it will be available on the day.

Agree intended uses and delivery boundaries early

Tell the team where the images will appear and what framing space must remain usable. A vertical placement and a horizontal placement may need separate coverage. Have the business establish the relevant permissions for its location and the people shown through its normal process. Do not assume third-party music or imagery is available for unrestricted use. Edited deliveries, unselected source files, reshoot conditions and storage responsibility are separate decisions. Write those into the scope instead of leaving them implicit in the phrase “social media shoot.”

Check coverage before the set is dismantled

At the end of the shoot, check whether every essential question has a usable image. Is the detail actually sharp, is the product colour misleading, and does the recorded action make sense from beginning to end? Record missing coverage with file references while the people and materials are still available. Connect selected files to their intended content ideas afterwards. For social media management, this turns a vague discussion about post quantities into a discussion based on usable source material. The list itself does not guarantee a particular output count or a commercial result.

Frequently asked questions

Does every product need the same number of shots?

No. The features that need explaining and the intended content formats determine the required coverage.

Is the shot list a quotation?

No. It describes production needs; staffing, time, deliverables, usage and revisions still need a separate agreement.
